    The Refractive Surgery Alliance Innovation Symposium

    Nathean had the privilege of joining a distinguished line-up of speakers at this year's Refractive Surgery Alliance (RSA) Innovation Symposium. The event, held at the Westbury Hotel in Dublin (June 29th - July 2nd), gathered ophthalmologists from around the world to discuss key innovations in the field of Refractive Surgery.

    Maurice Lynch (Nathean CEO) spoke about "Ethics in AI," shedding light on the challenges faced by the healthcare industry, software vendors, and governments in finding the right balance between innovation, ethics and regulation in AI, particularly in light of the recent EU AI Act. Conor Denny (Snr. Solutions Manager) shared insights on "Business Intelligence for Clinics," highlighting the work Nathean is doing with the Wellington Eye Clinic to optimize the patient journey through data-driven solutions. Finally, John Pugh (CTO) presented a novel approach to cross-clinic data privacy, focusing on the use of federated learning techniques.

    Nathean's presentations were well-received, showcasing our commitment to delivering world-class business intelligence and AI solutions tailored specifically for clinics, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance.

    We were delighted to participate as keynote speakers at the 2023 B2BSoftwareDays in Vienna, a bi-annual meeting of R&D institutes, software companies and businesses seeking opportunities for co-operation. This year, Ireland was privileged to be the partner country, with Nathean giving talks on the AI innovation ecosystem within Ireland. Maurice Lynch, CEO of Nathean, offered insights into Nathean's journey from BI to AI, its collaboration with Enterprise Ireland, CeADAR, and the Human-Centered AI Masters Programme. John Pugh, co-founder and CTO of Nathean, presented case studies on how Nathean helps companies productionise AI and the associated challenges.
